Hello Community
SIS Harvest Fest is coming up soon on Friday, November 3rd, at Sauvie Island School. We are still in need of many volunteers for both shifts 2:00-3:00 and 3:00-5:30 (includes set up and clean up). We need at least 1-2 volunteers for each booth, more for some. Families are invited to join the fun after school from 3-5. It will take place for all students during the school day (2-2:45) and will also open up to SIS families and the community for 2 hours after school (3-5). New this year, we are excited to offer a pizza truck from 3-5. Donations for pizza will be welcome and proceeds will go to the SIS PTC.
A wonderful Harvest Fest Flyer will go out in the next few days in backpacks and will be posted at school. This was created by three of our 8th graders, Bella, Izzy and Piper!
Please let us know if you'd like to volunteer by adding your name to this sign up sheet here or email us if you are having difficulty. You will see by the sign up sheet that there's a great variety of activities to choose from. The shifts will run from 1-3 and 3-5:30, this allows for an hour of set up prior and approx. 30 minutes of clean up after the event. If you can do the whole shift or only partial, please indicate what your availability is. Volunteers can also split a shift if that helps so that they can also enjoy time with their kids. The face painting booth is always a huge hit with the kids so if you are artistic and open to face painting some simple designs, please sign up for that activity. This is such a fun day for students and the staff and we absolutely could not make it happen without volunteers!
Also, if you have a 10x10 or larger canopy to bring on the day of the event in case of rain, please indicate this on the sign up sheet. Ideally, we would like to have one for each booth (10-12).
All volunteers will need to have an updated/cleared background check on file with the staff. Please let us know if you are unsure if yours is up to date and we can check this for you. These need to be updated every two years. As always, if you have any questions regarding volunteering at SIS, please reach out to us at volunteers@sauvieislandschool.org.
Thank you for considering!

Sauvie Island School Jog-A-Thon

The 9th Annual Sauvie Island School Jog-A-Thon is here! The proceeds raised on behalf of Sauvie Island School will be used to fund school-wide technology and support the teaching and learning of the 21st Century Technology Standards and Skills. Technology provides teachers and students with access to a variety of educational resources that inspire creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
Sauvie Island School is a K-8 charter school. We strive to integrate the concepts of Place-Based Education, Project-Based Learning, and Thematic Instruction into a quality, standards–based core curriculum so that students are engaged with their learning and connected to their community.
Current Oregon law allows for charter schools to be funded at 80% of what a traditional public school receives. This means that for the 2023-2024 school year, the funding gap is $511,386. To help bridge this gap, students and staff will be running for pledges. Our goal is $20,000!
